I have had an interest and passion for home theatre for many years and was among the first audio/visual enthusiasts who adapted early A/V technology to create a theater environment in our homes for viewing movies. We first used film projectors -- 8mm, then 16mm (some more affluent enthusiasts even had 35mm gear) then VHS (and beta) tape as the components of home theater technology evolved.

It's a "whole new ballgame" nowadays as home cinema technology has advanced considerably. Modern home entertainment systems -- DVD players, satellite TV systems, SXRD DLP LCD and plasma big-screen TVs and the technology associated with home theater systems can be confusing or even overwhelming to many people. I will strive to apply my compiled knowledge, experience and research to this site and its content to help you make an informed decision toward your home theater system components purchase and installation -- whether you opt for a big-screen HDTV or video projector and screen for your video display device of choice.

Much of the advice here will be geared for those whom are just beginning their Home Theater project. My first bit of advice is that you do not have to spend a small fortune to achieve the desired "WOW factor" (unless you really want to). Great systems that will impress your family and friends can be built or purchased that can fit even the most modest of budgets. All you really need for the basic home cinema experience is a DVD player, a good (preferably large) video display device and digital surround sound and you too can begin to enjoy movies at home even more than before.
